By twelve o'clock, the shoes have started gathering at the door. Quiet hands slide pieces into position. A football traces familiar paths through the dust. There is laughter from the kitchen. Homework waits on the tables. And before long, every corner of the house is alive. It happens every afternoon. Not so quietly. Faithfully.
